Sisley was the least successful of the Impressionists at the time, partly due to his modest nature. Although great friends with Monet he never received the recognition in his life time that he deserved. He lived in poverty most of hid adult life, being a landscape painter he painted around 900 oil paintings, all of which are highly acclaimed today.

This painting I have a fondness for and my copy is smaller than the original, but still in keeping with a lot of his landscape sizes.

His parents were English, although he only visited England on a few occasions.
